Hi everyone, KC again.
Still desperately looking creative play until 801 showed up. There are so many new archtypes even though not as imba as the Inzektors, at least there is a word "FUN" in it instead of dull. Today i will talk about the magical series. The Magical series is a new archtype which utilizes the Book of Spell cards. This deck actually search cards and shrinks down your deck so fast, you are able to draw any other supporting cards faster.
This deck will be centered around their ace monster Magical Erudite Junon. Its first effect allows you to special summon it from your hand by revealing 3 Books of Spell card. Very neat effect especially when you dead draw a bunch of Books, it is like Agent Angel deck drawing Master Hyperion. However it is best that you do not try to rely on this effect as some of the Books of Spell are better played than kept in hand. Now for its next deadly effect, by removing a "Books of Spell" card in your grave, you get to destroy 1 card on the field, wicked effect despite the once per turn set back. This cards stats is also quite high 2500atk/2100def like the legendary Dark Magician. A must 3 in a magical deck.
Magical Calligrapher Batel a.k.a my current profile pic in facebook(1st May 2012) is also another wonderful card and a must 3 in deck. Its effect enables the player to search for a Books of Spell magic card from the deck when this card is normal summoned or flipped face up. A simple +1 and often used together with Wonder Wand to get another 2 cards just like that. Great combo. Another fact about this card is: the kanji of the card actually contains the name: Books of Spell, making it searchable with Grim Books of Spell, making this combo even easier to perform.
Magical Summoner Tempel is the summoner of Junon. During the turn you activate a Book of Spell, you can tribute this card to summon a level 5 or higherDark type of Light type Spellcaster from your deck, usually Junon since it is the best out there. Combine with Necro books of spell, you spam Junon almost every turn from your deck further shrinking your deck. the only problem is drawing tempel which can be overcome if you play a few Giant Rats in your deck. A minimum 2 in your deck i would suggest.
Magical Warrior Fors is the level changer in the deck. It helps you to recycle one books of spell from the grave to your deck and increase the level of a spellcaster monster on the field by 1. Amazing effect if you play Instant fusion in our deck awarding you a Rank 5 XYZ monster like Tiras and No61. It can also serve as a beat stick when used with Hygro Books of Spell, giving it an attack of 3000 point. Eat that Archlord Kristya! It may not synergy with Junon unless you do some proper planning and depending on the stradegy you want to play.
These are the 4 Books of Spell cards. Personally all of them are useful.
a) Grim Book of Spell - Allows you to search for any "book of spell" named card from your deck. A must 3 since it can even search out Batel. Easily triggers the effect of Tempel and a deck shrinker. It also helps to maintain the number of books of spell in hand, critical for a dead draw Junon.
b) Hygro Book of Spell - Adds 1000 attack to one of your spellcaster. 1000 attack is no joke my friend. When the powered up spellcaster destroy an opponent monster by battle, it searches for another book. Great card but it would have been more if it was a quick play magic card. Sob~
c) Necro Book of Spell - A more limited version spellcaster exclusive Premature Burial with added level modifying ability. Combo with Brionac and special summon another spellcaster from your grave next turn. Plan your grave cards and hand cards wisely before using it.
d) Torah Book of Spell - Negate the effects of either magic or trap card used against your Spellcaster. Best used on a Safe Zone-d Junon if you want to deliver a direct attack.
This is magical deck i am using, it is definitely not META. I played Giant Rat because it can help me to special summon Tempel faster when i have Books of Spell cards in my hand or Injection Fairy Lily when i decided to stall my opponent out. Safe Zone is placed into the deck to prevent OTKs, shielding my own monster from harmful attacks and destroy opponent monsters should it became a target of mystical space typhoon. This deck is heavily concentrated on deck shrinking and will be able to stall long when needed. I hope to build a stable XYZ focus deck by including Instant fusion after a few more experiments, so stay tuned~ Enjoy and thank you for reading
Why don't you try a OOPArts deck? I like that archetype as well =P
