The lightcounter parts- LIGHTRAY

Kc again.Hi everyone. Today i would like to promote a few new cards in the new 708 box, the lightrays. As the blog title suggested, these are light-incarnates of certain cards in the previous series. They are all NOMI monster(Except for Diabolos), which means they can only be special summoned with a condition and that condition alone. It is rather easy actually because they require a certain number of light monster with different name to be in your grave. You only need to make good mills and get a beat stick for free. Their effect activation also requires a cost, usually banishing cards or returning cards of a certain type. Lets look at them, 1 by 1...

Lightray Deadalus - Its original card is Levia Dragon Daedalus, the powerful sea creature which effect involves field magic card. Lightray Daedalus too has a similar effect whereby you can first target 1 field magic card and 2 cards on the field, destroying it. First thing that comes in most people's mind are, which field spell should i synergy with this deck? People will usually go for geartown and will get frustrated because how can Geartown(synergy-able with earth decks ) play along with this card? I too have my mindset locked until a friend of mine demonstrated how he abuses Daedalus to destroy the opponent's field magic. Field-bound decks like Dark World, Dragunity are toast when they face this monster card in play, because they will be disposing 1 field card, which is usually a key card of these decks and 2 other cards. A powerful -3, a great side deck and no Macro cosmos involved.

Lightray Gearfried is the light-counterpart of Phoenix Gearfried. Its effect revolve around negating an activation of Spell/Trap card like ShiEn from six samurai. No need to explain much i suppose =D

Lightray Diabolos, the light counter-part of Diabolos, King of the Abyss is a rare card in the series. Its effects involves in peeping an opponent set card and you can return it to the top or the bottom of the opponent's deck. Pretty flexible and usually you can easily give your opponent a -2 advantage if you place that card on top of the deck. Pretty fun for trollers.. =D

Lastly, the light counter part of Chaos Sorcerer, Lightray Sorcerer. When you have 3 or more banished light monsters, you can special summon this card from your hand. Return 1 banished light monster you own and banish 1 face-up monster your opponent owns at a cost of your attack this turn. Pretty neat if you are talking about recycling.

I have built a deck,(a near-replica of my friend's decklist) pretty fun to play. Just mill away with lightsworn monsters and swarm the field with powerful monster, how wicked is that. Easy to play, quite cheap considering the reprints and you can exhaust opponent's set cards with all the sudden attacks from any of these lightray monsters.

Some other great cards that work well with the deck includes the almighthy Leviair, which helps you to recover banished monsters. Simply abuse cards like Lumina, you can adjust the number of different types of light monster in your grave, special summon another lumina for its effect again, and get a leviair free!! Very nice combo i must add.

=Infection Threat=

Hi everyone. Kc agn.
I simply loved the smell of the air in the YGO world after March, the trishula-free scent. Loved it so much and i hope that a forever jail will make Trishula lovers straight... Now that we are in the era of XYZ, i came across a really annoying deck from Duel Terminal the other day, very annoying and it is like a viral infection that gets u addicted, Verz archtype...

Here is how my deck on DN looks like. Verz is a archtype focusing on Rank 4 XYZ summoning, which is very popular especially the summoning of No39: Utopia, that is like every youngster's favorite(Mine too since it is a warrior type monster and yes i am a warrior-type-fanatic) And in this archtype there are 3 very powerful verz rank 4 XYZ monster that are familiar to almost every synchro player out there. It is like a corrupted version famous cards like Brionac, Gungnir, and Trishula(R.I.P). The added spices is that there is an extra 50 increment in both attack and defense(similar to other corrupted cards of famous DT archtype on which you can refer to http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Verz)

These corrupted version have very devastating effect that should not be taken lightly.
First, let me introduce Verz Ophion, the corrupted Gungnir. It is the strongest among the 3 and also the most annoying one if you played a Chaos/Lightlord/Synchro... One of its effect is sealing opponent's special summoning of level 5 and above monsters. In other words, with it standing, cards like Judgement Dragon, BLS, Gorz, Dark Armed Dragon, Chaos Sorceror, most of the Hieroglyphic Monster, Quasar etc will be free from sight. And its 2nd effect which makes it more annoying can activated by detaching 1 XYZ unit it, enables you to search for a card with "Infestation" in its name to the hand. And most of the time people will search for Pandemic Contagion Infestation.(Verz's version of Lance without the effect of decreasing attack) Plus, with an attack of 2550, besides Pearl no other rank 4 monster which requires 2 level 4 monster would be able to defeat it without some external support~

Next we look at Bahamut, corrupted Brionac. Once per turn, you can detach one XYZ unit to an opponent monster by discarding 1 Verz named monster. Another annoying effect but less imba compare to the broken Ophion~ And lastly Ouroboros the corrupted Trishula. It may not be a perfect sub for Trishula, but if the opponent manage to pull this card off, i can say they are confident and you are pretty much screw-ed. It is a 3 effects(Each effect can activate only once in 3 turns) monster that can be very annoying when it make a right entrance. So watch out!!

I used to run a Rabbit/Dino engine in this Verz deck but i decided to leave it out because i do not have the luck and the mood to play when i face a situation where my hand cards are crawling with normal monster, i just hate it. And if you run Laggia in the deck, eventhough you get to minus 1 opponent hand at minimum per summon, you won't be able to dispose Pandemic Contagion Infestation all the time. There will be some dead draws and trust me, for people with inconsistent luck like me, this kind of risk has its worth to be avoided~

You will notice that i run a Priest/Crane/CallofHaunted engine for the extra draw power. It is necessary because you will need that extra hand card from exhaustion after XYZ summoning~ It is quite fun to, baiting Cyclones. But beware of NightShot. This new annoying card will be a party pooper when it is against your "Call of the haunted"

That's all for today, hope you will enjoy reading and peace ^ ^
